About SumnuTyping
SumnuTyping is a free typing practice site published by Eric Lewis under the Sumnu name. You can take a timed test, work through a touch-typing lesson, or play a short game without creating an account. The point is practice: measure words per minute, notice accuracy, and come back the next day. It is not a certified typing school, a job-placement exam, or a medical opinion about your hands.
Eric Lewis runs the site as an independent publisher. He is not a certified typing instructor, therapist, or employer. A score here is not a credential for a hiring manager. If a sentence sounds like a promise of a job, a wage, or a health outcome, that sentence is a mistake. Email us and we will correct it.
The public mailbox is sales@sumnubooks.com, the operator’s existing Sumnu contact. Use it for corrections, privacy requests, and advertising questions. You do not need another Sumnu account to practice, and a result is not sent to a store or an employer.
What you can do here
The tools are the product, and this writing update does not remove them. Practice has Timed (15 seconds, 30 seconds, 60 seconds, or two minutes), Words (finish a passage with the clock hidden), and Code (short programming lines). Learn has six lessons, from the home row through punctuation, plus a QWERTY finger diagram. Games has Word Fall, Survival, and Type Racer. Rankings shows scores signed-in people choose to post. Profile keeps history in this browser and can export a .sumnudata file that stays on your machine. The guides explain those screens. They are not extra tests and not a certificate.
Free to use, meant to be ad-supported
Tests, lessons, games, rankings, and profile tools are free to use. There is no paid tier, and you can finish a test without signing in. An account is for posting a score and signing in later. The site is meant to be supported by advertising. It loads Google’s AdSense script, and the layout includes labeled advertisement placeholders. This September 23, 2026 update does not add live ad units and does not ask for an advertising review. If units are turned on later, the privacy page will say so first. A Buy Me a Coffee link in the footer is optional. Practice does not depend on it.
How we update pages
Guides, this page, and the legal pages show a Last updated date. The updates log records real shipments: a new guide, a correction to how WPM is described, a legal refresh. We do not post filler to look busy. A tweak inside a word list does not always earn a new essay. A change to what a score means will show up in the WPM guide and in the log.
If you spot a mistake, a lesson that will not start, or a score that does not match the WPM guide, write to sales@sumnubooks.com with the page address and what you saw. Privacy requests go to the same address.
