Word Fall, Survival, and Type Racer

One guide for the three games: what each one drills, what the difficulty buttons change, and how to pair them with a timed test.

Last updated: September 23, 2026

The three games are not three skins on one test. Word Fall asks you to watch several words and clear the one about to land. Survival asks for a single word before a shrinking timer expires. Type Racer asks you to finish a passage and beat a ghost of your own previous speed. A high score in one is not a high score in the others, and none of them replaces a 60-second practice test when you want a WPM to compare with last week.

Easy, Medium, and Hard change the word list for Word Fall and Survival. Easy is everyday words, Medium the broader game list, Hard long uncommon words. Type Racer builds its passage from ordinary words either way. Change difficulty when you are about to play Fall or Survival.

Word Fall

Words drop through an arena. Type the whole word in the box below and a match removes it and adds one to the score. The check ignores surrounding spaces and capital letters. A prefix does not count. Three hearts are three lives. A word that reaches the bottom costs a life. At zero, the round ends on the number of words cleared.

Words keep spawning, and the fall speeds up as the score climbs. Early on you can pick the lowest word. Later two words are dangerous at once, and the skill becomes which one to type first. That pressure is useless if you are still hunting for home keys. Play Fall after a lesson, not instead of one. Unlike the practice test, a wrong string does not skip the character. The word keeps falling until you finish it or it hits the floor.

Survival

One word, and a bar that empties. You start with about four seconds. Every ten words the level rises and the allowed time shrinks, down toward a second and a half. Three timeouts end the round. The full word clears it at once and loads the next one. A partial word does not count. You cannot hide a weak letter inside a paragraph. If a word always eats the bar, that word names the lesson to repeat. Drop to Easy if you are dying on the first few words. Watching the timeout is not practice.

Type Racer

You get a passage of ordinary words, a bar for you, and a bar for a ghost. The ghost is not another person online. It is your previous best WPM for this game, stored in this browser. The first race has nothing to beat. Finish once, and the next race draws a ghost at that speed. A higher finish replaces it. A lower finish leaves it.

A wrong character does not advance you. It flashes, and you still have to type the character the passage asked for. The practice test does the opposite: it marks the miss and moves on. That is why a Racer WPM and a Timed WPM are not the same measurement, even though both use a five-character word for the live number. The WPM guide describes the practice formula. Use Racer when you can already type a sentence without searching, and you want a target that is your own last result.

A week that uses all three

Keep it small. Two days of lessons plus a 60-second Timed test. One day of Word Fall at a difficulty you can clear. One day of Survival. One day of Type Racer. One day that is only the Timed test, so the number is not mixed with a game score. Stop if your hands hurt. Ten focused minutes is enough. If a game score climbs while Timed accuracy stays under 95 percent, believe the accuracy. The speed guide explains that order.
