Privacy Policy
Welcome to SumnuTyping.com (“we”, “our”, or “us”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This policy explains how we collect, use, and share information when you use sumnutyping.com. The site is published by Eric Lewis. Privacy requests go to sales@sumnubooks.com.
Information we collect
We collect the following kinds of information:
- Account information. If you create an account, we collect your username, email address, and password. Passwords are stored through Supabase authentication, not as plain text in the page.
- Usage data. If you save a result or post a score, we keep typing-test details such as words per minute, accuracy, errors, and test duration.
- Local storage. Typing history, settings, achievements, lesson progress, and a Type Racer ghost can be stored in this browser with localStorage. An exported
.sumnudatafile stays on your machine unless you choose to move it. - Google sign-in. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
- Cookies and similar storage. We use browser storage for sign-in and to keep your settings. Google’s advertising cookies are described in the Advertising section below.
How we use information
- To run the typing tests, lessons, games, and profile tools
- To show a score on the rankings when you choose to post it
- To keep a history of tests you saved
- To send account email such as a password reset
- To understand technical problems you report
We do not sell your personal information.
Advertising and cookies
SumnuTyping is free because it shows ads. The ads are served by Google AdSense on the typing test, lesson, and game screens.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this site and to other websites.
- Google’s advertising cookies let Google and its partners serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. They are also used to measure ads and to limit how often you see the same one.
- When an ad loads, Google receives technical information such as your IP address, browser type, and the page you are on. Google uses it under its own privacy policy. We don’t receive your name or email from Google’s ad system.

Your choices. You can turn off personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of personalized ads from many other vendors at aboutads.info/choices (United States) or youronlinechoices.eu (Europe). If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they won’t be based on your browsing history. Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser also works, but it may sign you out.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland. Where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent before it uses cookies or other local storage for personalized ads. If you don’t give consent, Google may show non-personalized or limited ads instead, which still use cookies for frequency capping, fraud prevention, and ad measurement. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the consent message, if one is shown, or by clearing this site’s cookies. The same controls are in Google Ads Settings.
Who we share data with
- Supabase, which stores account information and rankings scores
- Google, for optional Google sign-in and for advertising through Google AdSense, as described above
- Netlify, which hosts the site
A username and score you post to rankings are visible to other people looking at that board. Lesson progress and the .sumnudata export are not posted unless you share the file yourself.
Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while the account is active. You can erase local browser data from Profile with Clear Data. That control does not, by itself, delete a rankings row already stored on the account. To ask for deletion of an account and the data tied to it, email sales@sumnubooks.com. Include the email on the account and the page you mean.
Children
SumnuTyping is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data. People in the European Economic Area have additional rights under the GDPR. To use any of these rights, email sales@sumnubooks.com. We would rather correct a record than argue about it.
Changes
We update this policy by changing the date at the top and noting the shipment on the updates log when the change is more than a typo. Continued use of the site after a posted change means you accept the updated policy.
